Dear IPGA Supporter:
The membership renewal cycle is in full swing at IPGA and we hope that you will choose to be a dues-paying member of IPGA for this coming year.
Unlike many membership associations, being a member of IPGA does NOT guarantee a list of personal benefits that you will receive as a member. As you may recognize, membership in IPGA shows your support for the cause of quality Policy Governance® practice. For each member category, our bylaws requires a commitment to the Ends of IPGA.
IPGA’s current Ends (as of 07/2011)
1.0 Increasing numbers of those who desire to govern well connect with reliable and trustworthy Policy Governance resources at a justifiable cost.
1.1 They acquire practical knowledge and skills to effectively execute and share the model.
1.2 They learn from others with similar interests.
1.3 They critically assess whether any governance practice or advice is model-consistent and
how PG compares to other innovative governance approaches.
In 2010, Ends production involved the following activities:
- 8th Annual Conference in Calgary, AB (June, 2011)
- First Annual Consultants Forum (January, 2011)
- The launch of an International Practitioner Registry of organizations on the path of Policy Governance implementation. IPGA’s new registry is intended to inform the public about the widespread use of the Policy Governance® model. Check it out on the IPGA website and register your own organization and encourage those you know to register as well.
- The development of an “Elevator Speech” to help practitioners open conversations about Policy Governance®, distributed at the 2011 conference and posted on the website.
Ends Production plans for 2011-2012 include:
- Second Annual Consultants Forum on January 6-7, 2012 in Charleston, SC, with the theme of Integrity—in consulting, to clients and to the Policy Governance® model. There is no requirement of Academy attendance to participate in this forum.
- The Ninth Annual Conference, June 21-23, 2012 at the beautiful and historic Detroit Book Cadillac Hotel. The conference theme is “Out of the Book and into the Streets” …turning theory into practice.
- Website development, working toward implementation of discussion forums as well as model-consistent resources to help your boards with understanding of the model and model-consistent practice tools.
Your membership support of IPGA is most critical at this time. Your demonstration of support for the cause of quality Policy Governance® practice is most appreciated and needed.
Sincerely,
Susan S. Radwan, CAE, SMP
IPGA CEO
